A LITTLE GUIDANCE

Make practice
a positive habit.

A few simple ideas for using our papers at home.

Start with confidence

Try a Foundation paper first and leave the timer aside. A short, focused session can help you see what your child already understands and what you can explore together.

Set up for paper and pencil

Print the practice paper on A4 at 100% scale. Have a pencil, rubber and a quiet space ready. Keep the answer guide for yourself. For maths, encourage your child to show their working in the boxes provided.

Use the time as a guide

The suggested times are starting points for these practice papers, not official school exam timings. Allow extra time while your child is learning the format. Introduce timed practice when they feel ready.

Review together

Celebrate the ideas that worked. For a tricky question, ask your child to explain their thinking before looking at the answer guide. Choose one skill to practise next rather than trying to fix everything in one sitting.

Keep school preparation specific

Our starter papers offer general 7+ practice. Independent schools can use different assessment formats. Check your target school’s own admissions information for its current subjects, timings and expectations.
